Jaw-dropping Looks from Fashion’s Biggest Red Carpet – Met Gala 2015
So, I have been looking forward to the fancy fashion event for months and it finally, is here! The 2015 Met Gala, themed ‘China: Through the Looking Glass,’ was hosted at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City on Monday (May 4). Some celebs, like Beyonce, Kim Kardashian and Jennifer Lopez, went for shock and awe with jaw-dropping sheer dresses; while others knew the real way to make a statement was to sport show-stopping accessories, and I am talking about you two, Rihanna and Sarah Jessica Parker!
Those Barely-there Dresses
Jennifer Lopez always manages to catch eyes. For the ‘China: Through the Looking Glass’ 2015 Met Gala, J.Lo again donned a barely-there gown on the red carpet. The embellished, sheer Atelier Versace one-shoulder gown is 100 percent J. Lo’s style, and is also perfectly on theme with the guise of a fire-breathing dragon.
Kim Kardashian was one of three who donned sheer at 2015 Met Gala. The sheer Roberto Cavalli gown was designed by Peter Dundas in his first dress for Cavalli since returning to the fashion house.
For 2015 Met Gala, Beyonce left little to the imagination in her custom sheer Givenchy Couture gown. The nude trend has certainly had a moment at the gala, with the likes of Jennifer Lopez and Kim Kardashian each showing off their naked ambition.
Those Glitter & Shine
Dripping in gold Givenchy gown, Jessica Chastain infused a strong Midas touch and plenty of va-va-voom flair into 2015 Met Gala. The glittering metallic gown provided an old Hollywood glamour, and it radiated perfectly against the retro make-up.
Understated, but daring. Anne Hathaway made a major statement in custom Ralph Lauren gold lamé hooded cap sleeve column evening dress at the 2015 Met Gala, which is definitely giving us some major editorial rhetoric.
Kate Hudson, glittering in a custom Michael Kors gown, made a shimmery turn on the red carpet of the 2015 Met Gala. The dress is a work of art, but her hair and whatever tassel she has hanging in it is terrible…
Rosie Huntington-Whiteley has one of the most enviable figures in the industry. And she held her own as she made her way into the $25,000-per-ticket event, stunning onlookers in a shimmering pink-gold Atelier Versace gown, which clung to her perfect curves in all the right places.
On an evening where sweeping gowns are to be expected at every turn, Diane Kruger took a delightful detour by donning a Chanel Spring 2011 Couture ensemble, at the 2015 Met Gala. And I am crazy for the heart shaped clutch!
Allison Williams made a red hot statement at the 2015 Met Gala. I’m blown away by this striking ball gown. The bright red Giambattista Valli Custom Haute Couture embroidered silk dress is accented with stunning diamond Fred Leighton jewels. It may not scream ‘China’ to me, but it is too divine to worry about the night’s theme.
Amal Clooney walked arm in arm with her dashing husband George Clooney at 2015 Met Gala. Amal looked every bit the part of high fashion goddess in the strapless red Maison Margiela Couture gown, which has a Chinese-military inspired the bodice. Absolute perfection from head to toe.
Those Jaw-Dropping Looks
Sarah Jessica Parker easily commanded the red carpet at 2015 Met Gala with a fiery, flame-wielding headpiece by Philip Treacy, which was the real star of the show.
Donning an elaborate couture dress by Chinese designer Guo Pei, Rihanna shut down the red carpet at the ‘China: Through the Looking Glass’ 2015 Met Gala. Love it or hate it, it’s audacious looks such as this that truly embody the essence of Met Gala fashion.
So, among all there jaw-dropping red carpet looks, which one impressed you?
